2016 has been a historic year for fab lab members from all over the world! The Fab12 will be held in Shenzhen, and FABLAB2.0 will finally be revealed in the upcoming Fab12 World Exchange Congress. As fab lab upgrades to 2.0, the principle of fab lab has gone from "providing a space for creativity with tools and services for innovation" to "building a recyclable, self-supporting and self-sufficient future". Please come join us! Fab12 is one of the most popular international maker community annual meetings. This is its 12th year and the theme of FABLAB2.0 will be about fabricating to create a sustainable future. We hope to use the best fabrication technologies to empower the creative and entrepreneurial spirit of our members. It is the fruit of high-tech development. Fab12 will continue counting with the presence of worldwide famous fab lab members. Among these, digital equipment provider Roland has caught everyone's attention. Since it's founding in 1983, Roland has made great breakthroughs in technology and has been supporting creators in many ways, holding textile workshops in Legend and packaging workshops in Jielong printing company. Meanwhile, Roland has been a sponsor for this event since Fab9 Japan, Fab10 Spain and Fab11 United States. This year Roland joins the event as a sponsor, participating in Fab12 as a Fab Mover & Shaker. During Fab12, Roland will release its completely unified line of products, including jet cutting machine, UV printer, 3D printer, metal engraver, CNC cutter and a host of other professional fab lab equipments. Roland also plans to launch its " Digital Product Experience ". There will be a photo sticker booth shoot, 3D creative printing, and KK100 model carving for creating gifts and souvenirs on site! This is a once in a lifetime opportunity you won't want to miss. As a member of fab lab's innovator circle, trying to master a few of the basic devices is a must. Let us share some information on fab lab's professional digital control devices.
1. 3D Printer As the name suggests, the 3D printer can print objects from a hologram. Once having the 3D printer, the designer does not need to spend hours and hours polishing products. Just focus on creating the design and leave the rest to the 3D printer. There are PLA resin printers, photosensitive resin printers, and nylon sintering printers. The most commonly used is the PLA resin printer, and even though it has a low price, its precision is low more often than not. These limitations, along with the fact that is noisy, make it hard to use, especially when printing complex models. Nylon sintering on the other hand, has few limitations but a high price for material and equipment. Thus, it is not within the reach of many designers. The photosensitive resin printer is one of the most cost-effective 3D printers. Compared to the PLA resin printer, its precision is much higher and at a moderate price. Recommending a 3D Printer——Roland's ARM-10. Small and exquisite, performs without any noise, its operating software automatically supports a generating function, greatly reducing retouching time. Roland has also recently issued software materials that can be used with ARM-10 to print special gel texture for a soft effect.
2. 3D Compact Milling Machine The 3D Compact Milling Machine is also called CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing) or CNC (Computer numerical control). The 3D cutter can cut materials such as acrylic or wood. It usually comes with several knife heads and fixed clamps. The difference between the 3D milling machine and the 3D printer rests on the fact that the 3D cutter cuts the material directly, so its limitations are small. The 3D printer on the other hand, uses the additive manufacturing process where successive layers of materials are formed under computer control to create the object. Roland's SRM-20 is a small, easy-to-use, high-precision, high-efficiency numerical control cutter. It is best used for cutting crafts and circuit boards. If you are one of those people who loves cleanliness, you will love the SRM-20. Its interlocking cover and dust pan will hold in every single speck of dust. You just need to pull out the dust pan to take out the dust and done! If the cover is opened while the machine is working, it will automatically stop. Safe, elegant, and refined, the SRM-20 will become your powerful assistant. Use with Roland's ARM-10 for better results.
3. Photo Impact Printer The Photo Impact Printer uses metal optical reflection to render three-dimensional pictures on hard metal surfaces. Roland's MPX-90 printer head needle is made with diamond. This means it is not only long lasting, but it can also deal with materials such as iron, titanium, stainless steel, gold, silver, and platinum, among others. It does not produce odor or debris during use and its operation is simple and clean, giving you peace of mind. It includes METAZA Studio software to directly make graphics. It is easy to use and supports a variety of formats.
4. UV Printer The UV printer uses digital printing technology to work on metal, leather, glass, cellphones, signage, laptops and all kinds of materials. It is widely used in gift packaging, handicraft manufacturing, furniture supplies manufacturing, etc. the advantage of UV printing is that the carrier limitations are small, the manufacturing cost is low, and the overall printing time is also short. Roland's LEF-300 has four built-in heads and two built-in UV light units that support bidirectional printing. Its vacuum suction printing platform can easily handle extra-thin materials, greatly increasing printing possibilities. Used with VersaUV specifically for CMYK+white+transparent (varnish) ECO-UV ink combination, you can print a wide variety of three-dimensional effects.
5. Desktop Inkjet Printer/Cutter If you are a clothes designer or a graphic designer, then the Desktop Inkjet Printer/Cutter machine is for you! T-shirts' graphics are printed with soluble ink and then pressed onto the fabric. Roland's BN-20 can both print and cut, with high quality and long durability. You can print anything you want! From the company's posters, to POS/POP publicity materials, to a child's favorite animated character, to label stickers, to cute and original picture stickers——all within the scope of the BN-20. Apart from all these, at Fab12 Roland's " Digital Product Experience ", Roland will reveal more of fab lab's professional digital control devices along with digital solutions. It doesn't matter if you are an entrepreneur or a new innovator, you will definitely find a sustainable solution and business opportunity at the Roland booth.
